Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. – London UK

Here is a very first for Let’s Go To The Movies, a blog post about a restaurant. But have no fear this is very very VERY movie related so do not worry about that. I made my first visit to a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co Restaurant on Friday while in London, this is currently the only one in the UK as well.

It certainly doesn’t take a genius to figure out which film this whole thing is based and comes from does it? Well I certainly hope not. Just in case you’re not entirely sure or you have never actually seen the film (is that possible). It’s Forrest Gump and everything as soon as you walk in is related to the film. Pictures on the walls along with plenty of quotes, to go with them.

On entering and walking up the stairs, a gift shop is downstairs with a few different pieces of merchandise. The t-shirts with quotes on could be very tempting. I was shown straight to a table and immediately I thought it was amazing that the drinks menu was on a table tennis bat.  Also the sign was pretty cool . . .

The sign gets a lot cooler though as you are told that when you have decided what you would like to order that you turn it over. The other sign says “Stop Forrest Stop” makes sense they don’t have to keep asking you if you have decided or anything like that. So far so good as I spent a lot of time also reading the quotes on the table as well as all of the things on the wall. Let’s face it I had already decided before heading instead what I wanted, I spent time on the train planning parts of my day!

Just a little peak at the walls. I didn’t want to be that person who took loads of photos as people were sitting eating or anything like that. I resisted all temptation to pick a drink with a take home glass, seriously I don’t need anymore glasses. But I do tend to get a special drink every now and then. Ok not massively special and by that I mean pink lemonade. I had a few different choices here and opted for a Blueberry Lemonade.

My starter was crispy onion with Ranch and BBQ dips, which was fantastic. I was actually still eating it as my main course was brought out! It turned out to be a lot of food, for a very good price might I add!

Wasn’t it a very good job I only ordered the small option for my main course which was a 9 piece of shrimp with fries. Yes really this is the SMALL portion!

It wasn’t until I was well into making my way through this main course that I spotted the TV screen that had, yes you guessed it Forrest Gump playing. I don’t know why this surprised me so much, but maybe that it had taken about 40 minutes to even notice it?!?!

I didn’t notice on the way in but smiley faces were stuck on the floor . . .

I was very impressed with all aspects of the place and the service was super fast with some lovely staff members. Plenty of things to remind you of the film and the quotes really do make you smile. Not to mention the food was brilliant as well.

If only I had the option of this closer to home. Although could possibly be the new treat when on a trip to London! Website is here. Just look at all the cool things you can buy, a very unique restaurant!
