RIP William Hurt

Oscar Winning actor William Hurt has passed away aged 71, boosting a very impressive film collection across many different genres. One of my favourites of his performances came in Mr Brooks.

RIP Olivia de Havilland

At the truly remarkable age of 104 Olivia de Havilland has passed away peacefully in her sleep, a double Oscar winner who was nominated five times overall. Probably most well known for her role as Melanie in Gone with the Wind.

She made her breakthrough opposite Errol Flynn in Captain Blood. She continued to act until the late 1980s. She took on studios off screen at a time when they had complete control over the stars.

Rest in Peace to one of Golden Hollywood’s outstanding stars.

His haunting melodies for Sergio Leone’s trilogy of westerns A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. A lot of these films I have caught up with watching over the past few months and the scores blew me away each and every time.

He was presented with an honorary Oscar in 2007 and then went on to win for The Hateful Eight.

Let’s take a little bit of time to appreciate some of his most famous music from films . . .
