  1. Thanks for this post! What a pitiful list, no wonder I got away from film blogging for awhile. I feel sorry for “Burning”, but I guess all the menace and the unsettling atmosphere did not transport from a short story to the film. I felt nothing mysterious or unsettling about that film.

    1. Oh it really shows how poor of a year 2018 was for film. Plus I’ve seen nearly all the best picture noms as well, which doesn’t usually happen being in the UK.

I cannot believe they have rewarded such a mediocre film as Bohemian Rhapsody with a nomination!

  2. There were a few surprising nominations – and of course the snub for Bradley Cooper in the Best Director category, because he DID get a nomination by the Directors Guild – similar to what happened for Ben Affleck, but “Argo” went on to win Best Picture anyway so we will see…and “Roma” is the most over-rated film of the decade.

      1. Well, sorry you will have to do it, and maybe I missed something, but I have a long record of watching and appreciating art film and films in other languages as well….this didn’t resonate at all!
