This is something I have been putting together for quite a long time now and I have held off posting it or even attempting to start the blog post in fear that I have forgotten and somehow missed a favourite film from the list. Barring in mind I got up to 72 films and then had to cut it down to the 50. I would like to make clear these are my favourite films, some might have happened to win Oscars as well and some certainly have not at all. The way I have decided on my favourites is the sheer joy they bring and the number of rewatches I have had over the years. While I have listed 1-50 a lot of them can be shifted around and changed with each other. It is going to highlight my love for musicals and for certain actors and actresses! I doubt it will contain many surprises though!

Today Cinema First released a list of films that can be used at cinemas when they reopen in July. With Cineworld being the first to announce a date for England on 10th July they will then need films to show. The list has a very wide variety of genres as well as from all decades. I personally hope to see a lot of older films on the big screen for the first time, I don’t want recent ones given a release! Let’s appreciate some amazing films on the big screen for what could well be the very first time (Yes Casablanca and Some Like It Hot I am talking about you, not forgetting my all time favourite When Harry Met Sally!)

A Star Is Born (1954)
I absolutely adore this film it has some incredible quotes and moments and this can surely be some motivation for everyone today! Go for the big dream!
Musical Moments – Shallow (A Star Is Born) at the Oscars!
Ok, so I kinda wanted to let everything settle with this as people were going crazy saying Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were having an affair. So I would like to claim that it is just a truly outstanding performance, although I don’t imagine I would be too happy with it if I was Bradley Cooper’s girlfriend!
Highly tense and a truly outstanding version of the song. Quite possibly the best moment at the Oscars! It is so very hot . . .

Oscars 2019 – Best Picture
This is always the biggest talking point of any Oscar ceremony and which film will walk away with the title of being Best Picture. I seem to have a love/hate relationship with the winners of this category over the years. It seems to be either my favourite film that wins it or the film I hate the most from the nominees.
This year I feel its been a very strange and odd awards season, with that I don’t really have a film that I totally love out of these eight nominated films. None in this years batch I totally love and I don’t particularly hate with a passion either. I just feel rather neutral towards them. I am hoping that by putting together this blog post that I might be able to make my mind up a little bit more. I just feel as though it is a very weak year in terms of the quality of the films. We shall soon see, so let’s take one more look at the eight films up for the most prestigious honour in film . . .
Oscars 2019 – Best Supporting Actor
The Best Supporting Actor category is often where we can expect an upset and I think it is pretty strong this year, only one of the nominations I find a little weak but I will explain that later. Ali seems to be the clear favourite for the award so I am hoping for an upset so my favourite can win! So it could be an interesting one or it could be the most predictable, not long now to find out though. I love Richard E. Grant and really would love to see him win, surely he would deliver the greatest and happiest speech of all time?
Let’s take a final look at the nominees for Best Actor in a Supporting Role . . .
Oscars 2019 – Best Actor
The Best Actor in a Leading Role Oscar is usually a very interesting and good race during awards season. This year it seems Rami Malek is truly leading the chase, Christian Bale has picked up a couple of awards but Malek is certainly the favourite with plenty of controversy around that with how Bohemian Rhapsody has come across.
Let’s take one final look at the Best Actor nominees and who I would love to see win . . .
Oscars 2019 – Best Actress
This year for the Best Actress in a Leading Role is a pretty strong one in all honesty and I personally think that is a fantastic thing for women in film! Considering everything that has happened in a past year or two we have seen a rise in good roles for women.
With the ceremony fast approaching let’s take a final look at the five nominees and I will try by best to explain who I think is going to win and who I actually want to win!
