At the truly remarkable age of 104 Olivia de Havilland has passed away peacefully in her sleep, a double Oscar winner who was nominated five times overall. Probably most well known for her role as Melanie in Gone with the Wind.
She made her breakthrough opposite Errol Flynn in Captain Blood. She continued to act until the late 1980s. She took on studios off screen at a time when they had complete control over the stars.
Rest in Peace to one of Golden Hollywood’s outstanding stars.
A very sad loss indeed! Yes, she was 104, but it still makes an impact. Loved her in Gone with the Wind!

Did you see the photos from earlier this month where she was riding her bike still? Truly incredible

Those pics aren’t actually recent. They were from a couple of years ago, but they’ve just been recycled now.

Like De Havilland as an actress but the whole taking on Hollywood business is overblown. Stars complained about contracts that rewarded them more than handsomely when most Americans had no contracts at all and could be tossed onto the scrapheap at a moment’s notice. also, no other employee could get away with saying in effect I don’t want to dig coal no more I’d rather operate the lift.
