The Last Full Measure (2019) Review

Thirty four years after the death of Airman William H Pitsenbager aka Pits, he is awarded the nation’s highest military honour for his actions on the battlefield.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Scott Huffman is a political staffer at the Department of Defence and is given the job of actually looking into the Medal of Honour that was downgraded to the Air Force Cross for William H Pitsenbarger despite the fact that for over 30 years his comrades and family had been lobbying for him to receive the medal. It took from his death in Vietnam in 1966 up until 1999 for it to be fully looked into again.

It makes you wonder why he did not receive the medal to begin with and we get to see different stories from the men he saved and fought alongside, in flashback form. Considering Pits managed to save over 60 men during the Vietnam war it seemed a little bit simple that he deserved the medal of honour right?

There’s something that is very moving watching films based around different wars and that is captured in a very good manner within The Last Full Measure and that has to be a massive positive for the film as a whole. It put together a very good cast and the matching up of the younger man to the older man in terms of casting was very impressive as well. It also raises questions to why the Air Force do not have many military personnel as recipients of the Medal of Honour compared to other military.

Sebastian Stan does very well in the more leading role throughout the film. Then you add in Christopher Plummer, William Hurt, Ed Harris and Samuel L Jackson. Jeremy Irvine is also an actor who has really taken on some good roles.
