80 For Brady (2023) Review

When lifelong friends began watching American Football, it became a tradition to support Tom Brady and when the Patriots made it to the Super Bowl they decided that they just had to attend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

When Lou was battling cancer and supported by her three friends Trish, Maura and Betty they end up watching an American Football game as the TV is stuck on one channel. When they spot Tom Brady they are pretty much sold on not only Football but Brady as well, in the game where he made his debut as a rookie quarterback.

Flash forward 17 years and we see the women still supporting each other through different life events and having a full on tradition of starting to watch each game. When the New England Patriots get to the Super Bowl they decide that this time they must attend as it could well be the last chance they ever get. Driven by Lou and we do find out that it could well be for many other reasons given her hospital appointments and the fact that she is actually too scared to open the results.

The journey to get tickets and to the game was never going to be simple and straight forward, although the weekend would be truly incredible for each of the four women for many different reasons. This is something that we have to fully enjoy, 80 For Brady is in reference to them being over 80 although we are constantly reminded by Betty that she in fact still under 80 at 75!

This is a perfectly nice film and I mean that in the best way possible, as I throughly enjoyed watching this at the cinema on a Friday night after a long week at work. The four actresses are in their element playing the fun characters and it is another one of those films that remind us that age is just a number and you never ever need to stop having fun and a good time. I always find myself filled with hope when watching this type of film because it means you can always expect to have adventures throughout your entire life, well as long as you absolutely go for it of course!

It feels like such a long time since I’ve seen Sally Field in a film at the cinema and I am very happy to confirm that she is such a joy as always! Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have worked on so many things together that they are just so comfortable and it actually did feel a lot like Grace and Frankie at times. Rita Moreno still feels so utterly glamorous and that is another reason it is a joy to watch.

I mean the plot is based on true events, although that is more just the fact that a group of over 80 year old women had a club for Tom Brady, everything else is fully the film. I found it enjoyable enough and I do love that sport is always such a big pull and this clarifies that you can become a sports fan at all different stages of your life.
