Let’s Go To The Movies – 15 Films for 15 Years!

Yesterday was the first day that I posted on this blog (read here) and I felt as though I had to do something else more film related for the occasion of somehow keeping it all going for 15 years, so I thought I would pick my favourite film from each year, which possibly won’t link up with other posts of best films for each year.

Get involved yourself in the comments and pick your favourite and/or best films from the past 15 years!

V-Day . . . I’m a soppy romantic at heart!

I wasn’t going to mention that it is Valentine’s Day . . . Honest. But every year I cannot help but come up with something to post about. Last year I went for it with some huge posts and put together 100 Romantic Films but if you are more cynical than that here is a Top 10 of Anti Valentine’s Day Films!

No better way to start off than with this incredibly amazing (and soppy) quote from one of my all time favourite films ever. You cannot help but love When Harry Met Sally!

Posteritty – Film Quote Posters

I came across the incredible Posterity at some point on Twitter before Christmas, as someone had retweeted them for the very cool film calendar they were releasing. I then got it as a Christmas present (after sending the link on) and after that bought some of the posters. I have eventually got round to putting them up on my wall and thought it was well  worthy of it’s own blog post and to encourage my fellow film fans to check out the website for the fantastic minimalistic images and some with quotes.

I have therefore picked some of my favourite quotes from my favourite films. I am sure you won’t be surprised with my choices!

The 10 Best Duos In Modern Cinema

Throughout the history of cinema, there have been famous duos: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; Han and Luke (or Han and Chewie for that matter); Doc Brown and Marty McFly; Jake and Elwood Blues. The pairings go on and on (and actually, this list sums up a lot of the best ones).

For most of the famous duos in cinema, there’s an iconic status that comes into play. We love these duos not just because they were great together on screen but because their projects have stood the test of time and now resonate as classics. That makes it a little harder to determine who the lasting, impactful duos of modern cinema will be. But in the spirit of a certain goofy movie about male models coming out soon, let’s take a stab at it anyway…

7 Reasons to love Jennifer Lawrence

After seeing Joy last week and then catching Jennifer on the Graham Norton show it inspired me to do this blog post. She comes across so cool and that she does not have a care in the world on a chat show and has already played some great characters in film! At the age of 25 she already has an Oscar win to her name for Silver Linings Playbook as well as two other nominations for Winter’s Bone and American Hustle.

Top 10 – Best 2012 Films

The pick of the 2012 films I have seen. Remember this is the list of films I have seen at the cinema! 2012 for me seemed to be a very strange year for film, as I don’t feel like I managed to see many films during the year or at the very least missed loads of films. But I will try to give reasons why the 10 films which are in this list have made the list!

Why we must search for the Silver Lining!

So two days after I have seen Silver Linings Playbook and it is still on my mind, I actually used the phrase silver lining today after something changed with work and I have to do something else in the morning. But I worked out my silver lining for that, but if I had not just seen this film I probably wouldn’t have used that phrase! So the point of this blog post? Well just to show that films really can have a big impact on your thinking, they can help you get a clear perspective for something and really change your mindset about life.

Silver Linings Playbook (2012) Review

A film taking a look into how mental health can affect someones life and those around them. But when you accept that everything doesn’t go to plan and start focusing on the silver lining of a situation you might just be able to turn your life around, that is something Pat is trying to do since returning home from a stint in a mental institution.
