James Dalton is a bouncer who was hired to clean up one of the worst bars in a small Missouri town, what he didn’t realise was that trying to do this would see the villianious local entrepreneur Brad Wesley to rebel against it.
Johnny Utah is an FBI agent who ends up going undercover into the California surfing world when his partner believes a group of surfers are bank robbers known as The Ex-Presidents.
Donnie Darko is a troubled teenager who narrowly escapes a very bizarre and life changing accident. He sleepwalks and has visions with an imaginary friend that is a man in large rabbit suit named Frank and is manipulated to commit a series of crimes.
I am heading to the Theatre tonight to see Dirty Dancing on stage. I had never really fancied it in all honesty, but I am eventually going to see what it is like. If I enjoy it, always difficult when they are based on a pretty iconic film and that is certainly the case with this one.
I have already done a post in the past with Time of My Life, so thought I would go for She’s Like the Wind for today’s musical moment!
I haven’t listened to anything from the show so that will be a slight surprise.
I wasn’t going to mention that it is Valentine’s Day . . . Honest. But every year I cannot help but come up with something to post about. Last year I went for it with some huge posts and put together 100 Romantic Films but if you are more cynical than that here is a Top 10 of Anti Valentine’s Day Films!
No better way to start off than with this incredibly amazing (and soppy) quote from one of my all time favourite films ever. You cannot help but love When Harry Met Sally!
I came across the incredible Posterity at some point on Twitter before Christmas, as someone had retweeted them for the very cool film calendar they were releasing. I then got it as a Christmas present (after sending the link on) and after that bought some of the posters. I have eventually got round to putting them up on my wall and thought it was well worthy of it’s own blog post and to encourage my fellow film fans to check out the website for the fantastic minimalistic images and some with quotes.
I have therefore picked some of my favourite quotes from my favourite films. I am sure you won’t be surprised with my choices!
A lot of speculation and rumours online yesterday about a possible remake for ‘Dirty Dancing’. I am in the please don’t remake it side. I just cannot understand why a film which is still so loved and watched over and over should be remade. Even if you try to update it, it won’t have the same effect at all. You could not get away with the same lines which while some are so cheesy yet some are so brilliant. It would not be the same hearing someone different say them after nearly 25 years of this film. Patrick Swayze’s best known film and why all women (including myself) love him.
No way the ending could be recreated like that, and with that song . . . which everyone just loves to dance and sing along to. A very big hit at party’s and discos, with people trying to recreate the lift! (Yes I have been attempted to be lifted before).
