Blogathon: The Film That Started It All – Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring

This blog post is part of The Film That Started It All Blogathon on Let’s Go To The Movies. Getting people to really have a look at a film that they believe started a true love, passion and obsession towards films. I wanted to make sure we focus on the good and get away from the negative comments mainly on Twitter, love film!

When I was thinking about this Blogathon something I actually had a similar draft saved from a couple of years ago, only one film was in my mind. That being Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. I guess I could have combined the whole trilogy but I am going to only focus on that first part and the start of a truly epic journey for cinema watching and then the extended edition released on DVD and now I own on Blu-Ray as well, hoping for 4K UHD one day!

The Film That Started It All Blogathon

0D854A7E-D79B-4389-AD70-FBAC8C240BC7

We all have that one truly special film, the one that really made your love for film and cinema so deep. I thought it would be a fantastic idea to share this with each other and it could really create some positive thoughts and discussion.

The film does not have to be the greatest ever made, just the one that you relate to as your biggest influence in terms of loving film and cinema! I have had this idea for quite a while now and after so many negative comments and attitudes on Twitter recently I felt we all needed do think positively about the films we love!

Dates: April 19th-22nd 2019

This gives more than a month to get involved and I thought it would be ideal to do this over the long Easter bank holiday weekend. So if you want to get involved please comment below and with which film you will be writing about (for this one it really doesn’t matter if someone else is writing about the same film). If you let me know which film you are going to be writing about I can put together your own graphic!

Content
This can be anything you want really in terms of format as well, if you want to do it as a list or an in-depth post detailing everything you loved and hopefully still love about the film.

Please share this on your blog to help grow the announcement and get fellow bloggers to sign up!

Blogathon: 7 Films That Make Me Cry

tearjerker4_zpsy3mmxddr

This post is part of the “No You’re Crying!” Blogathon, which is taking a look at all of the different films that have moments that make us cry! Let’s face it we just love to have a good cry at a film, it really does help at times! At one point they did not really effect me very much, but now I cry for all different reasons when watching a film. So with this list I have tried to pick the seven films which have made me cry (and sob) the most considering the list in general would be rather long now. I have mixed it up a little bit with the truly sad and extremely romantic moments.

I must also warn you that due to this blog post looking at different parts of films it therefore will contain some SPOILERS.

Blogathon: Jack Nicholson – As Good As It Gets

jack42_zpskvqomqlm

The legendary actor Jack Nicholson turns 80 years old today and over at Realweegiemidget Reviews a Blogathon was put together to help everyone celebrate this together. When I first saw it, I just knew straight way which film I was going to write about and that is As Good As It Gets. One of my all time favourite films and an Oscar Winning performance from Jack!

Blogathon: 7 Things I Learned from the Movies

banners

You’re invited to get deep, personal or have some fun with the lessons films have taught you, for the THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE MOVIES BLOGATHON.

Your hosts are Ruth of Silver Screenings and Kristina of Speakeasy, and this blogathon happens October 14-17, 2016.

You can do anything: a list, essay, video, or podcast, to discuss the valuable or ridiculous life lesson(s) you learned from a film, whether it was about love, war, greed, kindness, activism, bravery, sacrifice, or prejudice. Tell which movie taught you a universal truth, a new concept, the way a system works, how to craft the perfect comeback, deal with a bully, kill a vampire, behave on a date, solve a murder or mix a cocktail with style. Did a film guide your career choice, help you overcome an obstacle, better understand a friend, era, art form or culture, or change your life?

Blogathon: Against the Crowd 2016

fotorcreated_zpsthripxin

I took part in this Blogathon back in 2014 for some reason or another which I am totally unsure of I didn’t take part in 2015. I must apologise for that as I totally love this Blogathon as it shows that everyone is different and don’t love and hate the same things, one of the best things about watching lots and lots of films!

Massive thanks to Wendell @Dell on Movies and KG @KG’s Movie Rants for putting together this fantastic Blogathon!

The rules are simple…
1. Pick one movie that “everyone” loves (the more iconic, the better). That movie must have a score of at least 75% on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you hate it.

2. Pick one movie that “everyone” hates (the more notorious, the better). That movie must have a score of less than 35% on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you love it.

3. Include the tomato meter scores of both movies.

4. Use one of the banners in this post, or feel free to create your own.

5. Comment on this post, or on KG’s Movie Rants with the two movies you intend on writing on.

6. Publish your post on any day from Monday August 22 through Friday August 26, 2016.

A Timely Blogathon

a-timely-blogathon-1_zpsb5yo5deq

As movie bloggers, we all need to find the time and energy to juggle both tasks of watching a movie and then writing our review of it online.

They can be very time consuming activities, so Anna (of Film Grimoire) and Rob (MovieRob) have thought of a temporary solution.

It’s a very timely theme and this Blogathon will be all about Time-saving movies, 90 minutes or less.

You can pick any movie (or movies) that your heart desires as long as it’s official run time is less than 90 minutes.
