This is something I have been putting together for quite a long time now and I have held off posting it or even attempting to start the blog post in fear that I have forgotten and somehow missed a favourite film from the list. Barring in mind I got up to 72 films and then had to cut it down to the 50. I would like to make clear these are my favourite films, some might have happened to win Oscars as well and some certainly have not at all. The way I have decided on my favourites is the sheer joy they bring and the number of rewatches I have had over the years. While I have listed 1-50 a lot of them can be shifted around and changed with each other. It is going to highlight my love for musicals and for certain actors and actresses! I doubt it will contain many surprises though!Read More »
I signed up for Letterboxd way back in 2015. Yes, really! Although I didn’t actually start using it properly until the end of 2019 and therefore 2020 was the first full year that I logged every single film that I watched. Albeit not as many Cinema films as I would have liked, which leads me on to saying during the lockdown/furlough stage I spent a lot of time logging in the diary all of the films I had seen at the Cinema dating back to 2003 (yes, I still have my Lord of the Rings: Return of the King ticket). This obviously took a few weeks as I also logged the films I have review on here as well. So as you imagine a lot of time was taken to do this. It gives some amazing all-time stats though.
Here we can take a look at my 2020 stats and I am sure no one will be surprised with my most watched films either!Read More »
Today Cinema First released a list of films that can be used at cinemas when they reopen in July. With Cineworld being the first to announce a date for England on 10th July they will then need films to show. The list has a very wide variety of genres as well as from all decades. I personally hope to see a lot of older films on the big screen for the first time, I don’t want recent ones given a release! Let’s appreciate some amazing films on the big screen for what could well be the very first time (Yes Casablanca and Some Like It Hot I am talking about you, not forgetting my all time favourite When Harry Met Sally!)
Here are the 450 films that could be shown in July at a cinema near you!
1917 *also available in IMAX and 4DX
2 Fast 2 Furious
20 Feet from Stardom
2001: A Space Odyssey *also available in IMAX

As you are well aware Jojo Rabbit is my favourite film since La La Land hence so many blog posts about it! So here is this weeks Screenplay the Oscar winning adapted screenplay for director Taika Waititi.
One day I might stop posting and spamming about the Jojo Rabbit cast, but that is not today. As Taika Waititi won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay he also directed and starred in the film bringing out an incredible performance from child actor Roman Griffin Davis! This photo is a truly lovely moment between director and the young actor, not forgetting the Oscar as well!
Here we go with the full list of the winners from the 92nd Academy Awards, on what turned out to be a historic night with Parasite being the first foreign language film to pick up Best Picture and four awards overall! Well done Bong Joon-ho!
- Best picture – Parasite
- Actor in a leading role – Joaquin Phoenix for Joker
- Actress in a leading role – Renee Zellweger for Judy
- Best supporting actor – Brad Pitt for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
- Best supporting actress – Laura Dern for Marriage Story
- Directing – Bong Joon-ho for Parasite
- Original screenplay – Parasite (Bong Joon-ho and Han Jin-won)
- Adapted screenplay – Jojo Rabbit (Taika Waititi)
Over the years the Best Actress in a Supporting Role race has become a lot stronger and that is certainly a very positive and good thing! Showing that the female roles are well and truly improving. Laura Dern has been running away with everything this awards season with some people arguing that Marriage Story wasn’t even her best 2019 performance thinking about her in Little Women! Being full on team Jojo Rabbit I would love to see Scarlett Johansson getting this one!
That’s right 11 whole years of blogging and writing about films that I love, like and sometimes hate. My blogaversary and something that I am very proud of growing and still being so obsessed with film!
Recently my biggest film love has come in the form of Jojo Rabbit! So here’s Jojo and Elsa dancing to remind everyone that when you are free you get to dance!
This year was certainly some kind of record of watching all the Best Picture nominees before the end of January, I mean even when the nominations were announced I only had Parasite left to see. Hopefully that is a good sign for the future and allowing better UK release dates for the awards buzz films. It can easily get frustrating at times and this year only one film out of the nine was a film I disliked intensely. I adore and love Jojo Rabbit, so much I have set a new cinema viewing record of five for that amazing film. With that I really liked and enjoyed the rest of the films. Which I guess is not bad at all and I feel that this years nominees are a lot stronger than last years! Just incase you haven’t heard about these films enough lets take one final look at them before the Academy Awards take place on Sunday!
