Meerkat Movies has launched its annual cinema report,  revealing the habits of UK cinema goers from the past year, whilst highlighting key opinions from the cinema-going British public, with key findings including;

  • UK cinemas saw the highest attendance levels for almost 50 years in 2018, with a 3.7% year-on-year increase
  • Musical adaptations are more popular than ever, with David Bowie’s story topping the list of icons we’d next like to see at the cinema
  • 75% of consumers polled say they feel James Bond should remain as a male lead
  • When movie fans were asked what films they would most like to see a sequel to, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of GrindelwaldDeadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War came in as the top three

A Timely Blogathon

As movie bloggers, we all need to find the time and energy to juggle both tasks of watching a movie and then writing our review of it online.

They can be very time consuming activities, so Anna (of Film Grimoire) and Rob (MovieRob) have thought of a temporary solution.

It’s a very timely theme and this Blogathon will be all about Time-saving movies, 90 minutes or less.

You can pick any movie (or movies) that your heart desires as long as it’s official run time is less than 90 minutes.

RIP David Bowie: A Tribute

With the unexpected news this morning that we have lost a legend in David Bowie, I really felt that I needed to do a small tribute to the incredible man, musician, song writer and actor. He really was something else, in a different mould to everyone else and a persona we will never ever see again. He was unique. I went though a Glam Rock phase as a teenager and of course Bowie was very much part of that, I also have to say that my dad played a huge part in that as he is such a big Bowie fan.

It also seems fitting with how many of his songs have been used in films as well as his many acting appearances as well, I always remember him in The Prestige and that was a total shock as had known idea that he was even in the film! Because of his unique style and many different types of songs he certainly has had them appear in many many films, often making them just that little bit better.

The Jean Genie is quite possible my favourite of his songs, so tricky to pick though . . .
