Erin Brockovich is an unemployed single mother of three who is desperate to find a job and improve their lives. She has no luck and a failed lawsuit from a car accident she was in looks as though it is the end of the road. But from that she manages to get a job for Ed Masry at his law firm and finds herself involved in a huge legal case.
Early this week was the date that The Dark Knight was released in cinemas and that film pretty much changed everything about comic book films as well as action films in terms of substance and what they could have in them. I loved the film so much after the first cinema viewing that I went back two more times and now have lost count on the number of times I have actually watched the film. I still personally believe it should have been nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars the following year. Heath Ledger was rightly awarded the Best Actor in a Supporting Role but this really should have been the film to break that Best Picture stigma.
Christopher Nolan really did take the whole comic book movie genre to a totally different level with his trilogy. Starting and setting the pace with Batman Begins and then moving into this unreal place with The Dark Knight and then finishing it off with The Dark Knight Rises. All of which are brilliant films on their own, so as a trilogy I actually think they are pretty close to being perfect, he set the bar high and I don’t think we have or will ever really see anything like this.
Coach Royal is being interviewed and looking back at the players he has coached and who he found the most inspiring, that was Freddie Steinmark who had to battle against his small size in order to prove everyone wrong. But getting to play college football wasn’t going to be his biggest challenge.
Jerry Black is retiring as police chief when the last case he is involved with he cannot easily let go of, Stan Krolak quickly finds a suspect who has learning difficulties and he gets him to admit he killed the young girl. But Jerry isn’t convinced, he thinks a serial killer is still on the loose!
You may or not be aware that Julia Roberts is my all time favourite actress (Sorry Meryl/Catherine Zeta Jones) so I thought I would start a new series of blog posts 7 Greatest Performances and who better to start with than Julia Roberts? This will be looking at the best performances from different actors rather than judging just the film. I thought this would create some very good and interesting lists, as the greatest performances are not necessarily in the best films. This comes on the back of seeing Wonder over the weekend which I thought she was just amazing in!
Another year is coming to an end which means another Worst Film list must be put together. I am pretty sure that most of my choices for this list people will agree with, although I have picked a controversial number one in the list but I really did hate the film a lot. So here we go with the worst films I have watched in 2016!
