Oscars 2022 – Best Supporting Actress

Another strong category with the five nominees for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Jessie Buckley – The Lost Daughter
For this nominee I feel like a utterly proud family member, having followed Jessie’s career since the very start of “I’d Do Anything” talent show and have followed her ever since. (Missed my chance to see her on stage in Cabaret though in December). I was seriously loving that she was nominated and she was great to watch in The Lost Daughter.

Ariana DeBose – West Side Story
She has been picking up so many awards and quite frankly she was everything in West Side Story. A true joy to watch, fantastic acting and incredible singing. Throughout the whole film you are easily blown away by her performance.

Judi Dench – Belfast
Never underestimate the love the Academy have for this Dame, she was delightful in Belfast though and has some truly lovely and fantastic scenes. Bounced off Ciaran Hinds in spectacular fashion creating such incredible grandparents.

Kirsten Dunst – The Power of the Dog
Seeing her grow over the years is certainly a good highlight and she was good in this film, but I don’t think she has the same impact as other nominees in terms of on the film as a whole.

Aunjanue Ellis – King Richard
Behind every great man is an even stronger woman? Is that how we should see Aunjanue behind Will Smith in King Richard? Very possible, as she really does have some incredible moments. One scene sticks out in my head which you can always relate to how good a supporting performance can be.

Who I want to win: Ariana DeBose
Who I think will win: Ariana DeBose
Outside chance: Judi Dench
