This year the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the 2022 Oscars is a very good mix of performances.
Ciarán Hinds – Belfast
I thought his performance in Belfast was just wonderful and brought some amazing memories of my own Grandad which was lovely to watch. He was charming with each and every scene, a true joy to watch and I am sure no one would be disappointed if he won!
Troy Kotsur – CODA
I mean this is an utterly fantastic performance and given the fact that he is a deaf actor makes it even better to spread the message that deaf people have to cope with everything in different ways. The runaway favourite and I would be more than happy to see Troy win.
Jesse Plemons – The Power of the Dog
An actor who has gone from strength to strength in recent times and probably the weakest out of the five performances, which sounds harsh to say as Jesse is really good in The Power of the Dog but I feel the other four performances are better.
J.K Simmons – Being the Ricardos
Another actor that the academy just seem to adore and rightly so! He brings much needed light relief in certain scenes in Being the Ricardos in only the way Simmons could do it, working so well with Kidman and Bardem.
Kodi Smit-McPhee – The Power of the Dog
For a young actor to pull off a performance as lovely and pure as this one, you would be thinking that any other year he would easily be winning this category. It would still be fantastic to see him win though wouldn’t it, I mean I seem to have now said that three times!
Who I want to win: Ciaran Hinds
Who I think will win: Troy Kotsur
Outside chance: Kodi Smit-McPhee
