Best Films of the Decade 2000’s

I have put together a list of in my opinion some of the very best films of the decade which has just passed. From 2000-2009 which was called the noughties. You may not agree with a lot of my choices, you maybe surprised, you may expect certain films to be in. But I have chosen 50 films and will explain exactly why they are in the list. Feel free to comment on those post’s and discuss if you think certain films should be higher or lower or even not on the list at all.

I will post the list in 5 parts, I have the list all finished, pictures uploaded on Photobucket for  the films so now all I have to do is complete the posts with my reasons for the films being in my list. I am sure some people out there will already know what is going to take my top spot . . . but hopefully I can manage a very surprises.

I am betting that I have missed loads of films out, which I will realise after I have made all the posts. But so be it . . . I have made my choices now and I will stick by it (and who knows possibly laugh about it in a few months time).

Nancy Meyers: An Appreciation

Nancy Meyers is an American film director, producer and screenwriter. Her newest movie “It’s Complicated” starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin is due for release tomorrow in the UK, therefore I decided to make a blog celebrating what Nancy has done so far in the movies . . . mainly for women as that is the target audience of her movies. Making movies that other people probably wouldn’t with older actors in love stories (Somethings Gotta Give) and breaking the typical Hollywood mould, which I think is just brilliant. She is definitely one of Hollywood’s most powerful women.

She’s directed “It’s Complicated” (2009), “The Holiday” (2006), “Something’s Gotta Give” (2003), “What Women Want” (2000) and “The Parent Trap” (1998).

She’s written “It’s Complicted” (2009), “The Holiday” (2006), “Something’s Gotta Give” (2003), “The Parent Trap” (1998), “Father of the Bride Park II” (1995), “I Love Trouble” (1994), “Once Upon a Crime” (1992), “Father of the Bride” (1991), “Baby Boom” (1987) and “Private Benjamin” (1980).

She has also produced most of the movies she has written and directed.

Movie Quote of the Day 19

My last attempt to post the movie quote of the day section on the blog failed and I have not posted a quote of the day since April . . . which is way too long. I think I am going to set it up to post a quote of the day at the same time every day just so I do not forget to post them.

Well today’s quote comes from a now favorite movie of mine “The Bridges of Madison County” and is said by Clint Eastwood’s character Robert in one of the many heart breaking scenes.

“This kind of certainty comes but once in a lifetime.”
